Phase One Complete!

Since the purchase of the retreat center in 2021, skilled volunteers from all over the states have come and donated their time and energy to the complete remodeling of the cottages. We are grateful for them every day and have together witnessed the miracles of provision, the heart warming friendship and community built and the satisfaction that comes from looking at the progress!

Vision

Excelling Leaders vision is to encourage and equip missionaries and their families so they can be effective and resilient. For many years walking alongside missionaries took on the form of us traveling with a suitcase and renting places, but very quickly the vision of creating a place where missionaries and their kids could come for a period of rest, reflection and re-equipping became a need and a passion. In 2015 Kevin did his Masters Thesis on “What is the best holistic healing environment for global families in transition?” Beauty and safety where at the top of list. So we started to pray for this kind of place.

Studies show that:
•   47% of missionaries leave the field before their first term is
   complete.
• Every year more than 5,000 US missionaries leave their fields of
     service for preventable reasons.
• It costs estimated $250,000- $400,000 to recruit, equip and send a
     new missionary family to replace each family that has to leave.
• Missionaries are 9 times more likely to suffer trauma than non-
  missionaries.

Success

In 2021 after many years of prayer and searching God lead us to what is now the Radiant Life Retreat Center on 3 Mile lake in Paw Paw Michigan. A 10 acre property, with 450 feet of frontage on an all sport lake with 2 houses, 7 cottages, 5 RV sites, beautiful sunsets and much more. Since that day in May 2021 so much has happened. Close to $500,000 has been donated in labor material and finances. All 7 of the cottages have been completely redone and turned from seasonal to year round cottages. The older farm house has been transformed into a beautiful gathering house and the list goes on. So much has happened!

Need

More still needs to be done. We need a space specifically designed for kids and teens who come with their parents to process their last season at their age level. We feel the back half of our pole barn when renovated would work great for just this need. We have also outgrown the adult processing spaces and would love to construct 2 single room cottages to fit this need. But we need your help! We need volunteers to help with painting, construction as well as financial partners.
